The Art Society of Inverness was founded 77 years ago and continues to provide a range of opportunities to artists, aspiring artists and those just interested in the visual arts. Our activities include classes, workshops, talks, demonstrations, trips, exhibitions and of course social events. Members come from all over the Highlands and beyond, and include a wide spectrum of artists, from experienced professionals to leisure painters and beginners. NEWS...

 

PLANS are now being made to hold our ANNUAL EXHIBITION at the WASPS studios in Inverness. Details will be announced here when finalised. The dates have now been fixed as JULY 15th - 25th.

 

Saturday 28th May, 2:30 pm.  Demonstration by Thomas Keyes

Using materials and techniques of early medieval insular scribes to create contemporary manuscript art on parchment, taking inspiration from Gaelic origin legends and a range of contemporary themes.The event is free and non-members are welcome to attend for free.

 

NEW - In response to strong demand ASI is organising new Taster Sessions and Beginners Classes in May 2021. The first ones are already fully subscribed, but there will be a waiting list, and probably more in the future. See more info. under Ongoing Classes/Groups.

 

Coming up soon - a two day Workshop on Silver jewellery making with Alan Baillie on 9th and 10th May. (Now fully subscribed). See info under Workshops.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON MEETINGS HAVE RESUMED...

....  in October and November 2021.   The November meeting was also the AGM, followed by a fascinating talk by Kenneth le Riche.

 

 

Here Kenneth explains some disconcerting elements in a painting by Cezanne.
