ABOUT US

The Art Society of Inverness was founded 65 years ago and has over 300 members from all over the Highlands.  These range from professional artists to those who paint for leisure.

Being surrounded by such beautiful scenery is the perfect inspiration for our members and gathering together as a society allows us to express and share our love of art with like-minded people.

There are many other benefits members can enjoy:

From autumn to spring we have monthly Saturday afternoon talks and demonstrations (examples can be found on the news page).  These are always very informative and enjoyable and members usually come away with some good artistic tips, and a deeper understanding of art.

These meetings are also an opportunity to chat with fellow members and take advantage of our library of art books, DVDs and videos.

The summer months are full of various events; such as the annual outing, painting weekends and days, and the Annual Art Exhibition.

Throughout the year there are painting classes, workshops, plus exhibition space in Inverness.

We also have our own bi-monthly newsletter called 'Artyfacts', which is full of the latest news, events and opportunities.

Plus being a member also entitles you to a discount at some of the local art shops and picture framers.  What more could you want?

If you would like to join instructions are on the How to Join page.  We are all very friendly and welcoming.  If you are unsure of your artistic abilities do not worry.  We welcome anyone with an interest in the visual arts and there will be many opportunities to improve your skills, if you so wished.
