The Art Society of Inverness is a non-profit making organisation run by an elected management committee. Membership is open to everyone at an annual subscription rate of £15.
The AS News is published 6 times a year and provides information on all the events and activities enjoyed by members
Painting Classes: In and around Inverness, held both in the evening and daytime, for all levels of experience including complete beginners. Most of our tutors are professional artists.
Talks and Demonstrations: from history of art lectures and slide shows, to demonstrations by visiting contemporary artists, the programme is designed to have something to interest everyone.
Extensive Library: of books, videos and DVDs available for members to borrow as they wish.
Major Annual Exhibition: of members' work in Inverness every summer: an opportunity for ALL members to exhibit and sell their work - over 350 paintings are shown every year and the exhibition has a fine reputation for high standards.
Exhibition Space: We have gallery space in the café in Leakey's Book Shop, Inverness. There is a change over of work every three months. Also at Raigmore Hospital Gallery where the change over is every two months.
Outings: to exhibitions or places of special artistic interest (day bus trips).
Painting Weekend: usually a Saturday and Sunday in June. A different highland venue is chosen each year and a professional tutor is on hand. There is a dinner on the Saturday night and accommodation can be arranged if required.
Workshops: with professional tutors on specific aspects of painting and drawing etc.
Charity Sale: every Winter in Inverness. Members may bring as much work as they wish to sell. 20% goes to a charity chosen at the AGM, 80% to the artist.
AGM: every November. We make sure that this is an enjoyable event for members!
Discounts: 10% off art materials from ARTMEDIA (Inverness) and 10% off framing costs at ABACUS (also Inverness).
